Matt Barrie has been an Emmy Award-winning American sportscaster for ESPN's SportsCenter since joining the network in March 2013. He currently co-hosts ESPN College Football with analysts Joey Galloway and Jesse Palmer on Thursday pretime pre-show and halftime show. Previously, Barrie worked for various stations including WLTX-TV, KXAS, WJFW-TV and KSWO-TV. He is also a golf commentator for ESPN's coverage of the Masters and PGA Championships.
Born and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona, United States, Matt attended school at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University. There he graduated with a degree in broadcast journalism. In addition, he was inducted into the school's Alumni Hall of Fame in 2020. Shortly after graduation, Barrie began his professional career as a reporter for WJFW-TV in Wausau, Wisconsin. There he served for a year and covered the story for the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers.
He then joined KSWO-TV in Lawton, Oklahoma as a sports anchor and reporter. From 2003 to 2004, he covered the Big 12 Championship and BCS National Championship games. During his time there, he hosted the weekly Saturday Night Blitz and co-hosted the Matt and Tim Show at 1400-am. Additionally, it also aired Friday-Monday sportscasts and provided live coverage of the Independence Bowl and Liberty Bowl.
