While the women drag Malena out of the hotel ripping her clothes off and beating her. Malena leaves town after this incident. After a few days, her husband Nino comes back and asks for his wife, while Renato helps him by giving Malena’s address as no one else is helping her. A year later, when Nino and Malena are walking through the city of Messina, the market women notice that she has aged and begin to respect her. In the film’s final moments, Renato and Malena finally talk when Renato helps her pick up the fallen vegetables in her bag. Renato realizes that she will be the only woman he can never forget.
