What happened to Christopher Story?
Christopher Story (40) was last seen at his home in New Castle, Pennsylvania on August 11, 2013 at approximately 11:00 p.m.
In a news release issued March 2, 2023, the New Castle Police Department confirmed that human skeletal remains found in a wooded area in Taylor Township were identified by the Lawrence County Coroner as those of Christopher Story.
The department has been investigating the case since Story went missing in order to locate him and determine his whereabouts.
The Disappearance of Christopher Story
In 2013, the FBI released a statement regarding the disappearance of Christopher Story, stating that he was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, khaki shorts, a dark cap and black shoes, and was not wearing his wallet, his phone charger or his medicine. .
The statement further mentioned that Christopher had surgical pins/rods in his spine which could cause him to walk with a limp, and his lack of medication could lead to agitation, confusion or hallucinations.
Recently, the skeletal remains of Christopher Story were found within five miles of where he was last seen, with the assistance of the Coroner’s Office, New Castle Police Detective Office, from the FBI and K9 cadaver dogs.
The remains were examined for medical characteristics and compared to X-rays, which confirmed the identity of the missing person. Christopher’s family have been notified of the findings, offering “sort of closure” to his father, Philip Story.
Although the inquest is continuing, the coroner has not yet determined the cause or manner of death.
The FBI will perform forensic testing on the remains and the New Castle Detective Bureau will continue to investigate the case. Lawrence County Coroner Rich “RJ” Johnson expressed satisfaction at turning a blind eye to Christopher’s friends and family, but acknowledged there is still work to be done to determine how Chris died .
