The Witcher’s Anya Chalotra explains why she refused to use body double for n-ked and sx scenes
The Witcher’s Yennefer is definitely a woman who knows her sexuality, and she’s seen in plenty of clinch with lovers during n-ked and sx scenes in the Netflix fantasy series.
It was definitely a task for actress Anya Chalotra, who plays the show’s leading lady who leaves mischief in her wake as a powerful mage.
But speaking to Metro.co.uk, Anya explained that she decided to take on the task herself, despite being offered a doppelganger to do it for her.
She told us, ‘I had a stunt double for the sex scenes, and she was always there. Flora.
“But I didn’t, I only used it for the first sex scene because I realized very quickly in that first sex scene that I actually didn’t feel comfortable with it. someone else to play Yennefer, because she’s still acting, right?”
In the scene in question, pre-transformation Yennefer was seen in a heated clinch with Istredd (Royce Pierreson), as an imaginary audience concocted by Yen was seen cheering as they watched.
After watching the scene unfold, Anya stepped in and then performed any other form of n-dite herself.
‘I found [watching] it’s really hard so if we were going to talk about the sex scenes that would be the best way to film them, so that I’m comfortable and you still get what we needed for the story move on “, she explained.
“But with the public, yes, but the close-up is not me. The intimacy between Yennefer and Istrid is. These close-ups.
Luckily, except for that one scene, the team was able to avoid complete n-dity – with Anya becoming “semi-n-de” instead.
We thought we could portray these scenes without any n-dity,” Anya told us. ‘Semi-n-de, but not like the first sx scene where I had to use my body double.
“The only things I needed to be n-de for were the scenes, the transformation scene and other scenes that really developed the story and really needed it, you know…”
The Witcher became a smash hit just days after its release, with avid fans of the game and the book series, the show is flocking to see if the series could live up to the hype.
