Sydney Sweeney on ‘Euphoria’ N-dity and S-x Scenes: ‘I’ve Never Felt Uncomfortable’

Sydney Sweeney is opening up about filming sex scenes on ‘Euphoria,’ which she says boosted her body confidence.

“She doesn’t know how to communicate without showing her body,” Sweeney said of her character Cassie. “It’s a form of communication for her, and she was never taught that you didn’t need it.”

Sweeney dove into his character’s psyche for Variety’s “Actors on Actors” series presented by Apple TV+, in conversation with “Yellowjackets” star Christina Ricci. “Euphoria” made headlines earlier this year when Sweeney revealed there were to be more n-de scenes in the show’s second season, until she spoke out against their inclusion because that she felt they were not necessary.

“It’s a very safe environment. I’m very lucky to come to a time when there’s so much thought going into this process, and we now have intimacy coordinators,” Sweeney said. “I have strangely become very confident with my body thanks to Cassie.”

Sweeney also explained the role of an intimate coordinator after Ricci said she had never worked with one.

“They bring tools,” Sweeney said.

“Certainly not. Stop it. What kind of tools?” Ricci replied.

“And we choreograph the whole thing. Sometimes there are yoga mats that you can put between them,” Sweeney said. “Or there’s like pads you can put on, or yoga blocks, there’s some weird stuff. And even if you have agreed to something, they ask you on the spot, the same day: “Have you changed your mind? Because you can.’ That’s really nice. I never felt uncomfortable.

“I haven’t done a sx scene in a few years,” Ricci replied. “I’m at that age where they don’t ask you so much to make them anymore. I mean, I don’t really like them.

Ricci also revealed that she once took matters into her own hands on a film set and opted to stay n-ked even when the sex scenes weren’t taped. Sweeney said it wouldn’t happen today because “they’re throwing dresses at you now.”

“I was like, ‘Don’t make me feel weird, like I’m the person to be ashamed of,'” Ricci said. “I just stayed n-ked. And I would talk to the n-ked crew members.

Sweeney replied, “I have to say it’s kind of like a power grab.”
