Stewart first worked at San Francisco-based KEMO-TV as a reporter. He then joined CNN in 1980 and remained there until 2001. During his time there, he worked on shows such as ‘Business Day’ and ‘Moneyline’ with Willow Bay, as well as ‘Business Asia’ as anchor .
After working for Radio Hong Kong as a reporter, he began his journalism career in San Francisco at KEMO-TV (now KOFY-TV). He then trained to become the Manhattan bureau of the CNN network, the fledgling 24-hour news network that launched on June 1, 1980.
He presented Moneyline with Willow Bay, Business Asia as well as the CNN Business Day shows. He left CNN and began working as a host on CNBC for their show “Wall Street Journal Editorial Board with Stuart Varney in 2001. He began working on the Fox News business team and joined the Fox Business Network in January 2004. He worked as anchor when the network launched in October 2007.
