According to former royal butler Paul Burrell, the Queen went out of her way to throw a small party for Lilibet’s birthday, with a birthday cake featuring a single candle. Unfortunately, the royal couple did not show up and the candle remained unlit.
Instead of joining the Queen for the important family occasion, Meghan and Harry, who have faced persistent rumors of marital problems, opted for a picnic in the courtyard of Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.
Burrell revealed that the day after Lilibet’s birthday, the Queen asked if they could come back for tea, only to be informed that the couple had returned to the United States. She was taken aback and expressed surprise at not receiving a proper farewell.
This situation left Queen Elizabeth “confused” and wondering how such offense could occur to the monarch. Burrell asked the question: “How could you offend our queen?”
