Biography of Lonnie Quinn
Lonnie Quinn is an American meteorologist currently working as a weather anchor for WCBS-TV in New York City. Quinn served as the weather anchor for CBS This Morning Saturday and currently appears on the CBS Evening News. He also appears frequently on sister radio station WCBS-AM 880 for their weather reports.
After his education, he graduated magna cum laude Boston College in communications and swam for the Boston College swim team. He also holds a FAA certificate in meteorology and works consistently to further his formal meteorology education.
Before joining his current station, he worked at WTVJ, the Miami-based NBC affiliate. Here he served as the weather anchor on “Today in South Florida” and won an Emmy Award for “Best On-Air Talent.” In June 2007, Quinn replaced John Bolaris, who moved to weekends only to finish out his contract.
After switching careers from acting to broadcasting, his first newsroom job was at WVIR in Charlottesville, Virginia, United States, as an evening news anchor and weekend weather anchor. Prior to that, he worked at several different stations in Charlottesville. He currently serves at WCBS-TV in New York.
