Leonardo Dicaprio and Kate Winslet Never Dated

Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet have been best friends for ages. After filming Titanic, DiCaprio and Winslet became closer than ever and still speak to each other regularly to this day. Don’t believe us? Winslet boldly declared that DiCaprio is still his “closest friend in the world.” Yet, as often as we see the two walking hand-in-hand in photographs, the couple never decided to take their relationship to the next level. Keep reading to find out why.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet grew up together

Winslet and DiCaprio have been a team since 1996. The best friends in Hollywood say they grew up together in the industry. They also admit that they use each other as a support system through all the obstacles brought on by fame. According to Winslet during her Rolling Stone number, she and DiCaprio know everything there is to know about each other. She even knows the exact sandwich he prefers to eat.

As Rolling Stone tells it,

“Very late one night, Winslet and DiCaprio were lying on the deck during a break. An assistant approached for food orders. “Leo was so tired,” Winslet recalled; he had his head on his stomach and asked a sandwich. ‘The assistant asked, ‘What do you want on it?’ and Leo said, ‘Oh, Kate will tell you.’ And Leo kind of fell asleep. And I knew exactly what he wanted, that kind of cheese with no tomato or pickle. I absolutely knew. And I I thought, ‘God, it’s really weird that I know this person so well.’ It was brilliant.”

The real reason Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio never dated

The truth is, Winslet and DiCaprio never “imagined” each other. The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind actress told Rolling Stone that any romance between them would be too “incestuous” because they are like siblings. Additionally, the two need each other as support systems, and it would be harder for them to maintain that kind of support if they started a romantic relationship.

“In many ways, Kate and I have really grown together in this industry,” DiCaprio says. “We’ve been a support mechanism for each other for so long. We were there for each other and helped guide each other.

Regarding their strictly platonic relationship, Winslet admits, “I think the reason the friendship works is that there was never anything romantic about it. It’s so disappointing for people to hear that because in the soap opera of Kate and Leo’s story, we fell in love at first sight and had a million kisses, but we never did. . Winslet then says, “We needed each other to lean on because we were so young and working all kinds of crazy, bloody hours and it was a shock to the system.”

There was a time when Kate Winslet had feelings for Leonardo DiCaprio (or Jack at least)

Although Winslet has repeatedly stated that she and DiCaprio had a brother-sister relationship, there was a moment during the making of Titanic where she found herself drawn to her best friend. (Or at least attracted to the character he played.) His feelings became confused during the scene where Jack and Rose are intimate for the first time in the touring car. Surrounded by steam and passion, Winslet tells Rolling Stone that the “Rose” in her loved DiCaprio’s “Jack,” which ended up creating some complex feelings.

“Doing that scene,” Winslet told Rolling Stone, “so it wasn’t us. And yet, we were so locked into what it all had to be. The Rose in me really loved the Jack in him. And even if I didn’t feel that for Leo, it was kind of nice to feel that way in the scene. It was kind of lovely. And then, you know, the camera stopped rolling, and he gets up and walks away. goes, and the scene is over. And I remember laying there thinking, ‘What a shame it’s over. Because it was pretty cool. It was.’
