Biography of Jude Akuwudike
Jude Akuwudike is a Nigerian-British actor who rose to prominence performing in various plays and productions for the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Royal National Theatre. He also gained more fame playing the role of Joshua in Disney’s live-action The Little Mermaid in 2023. Jude’s other famous roles are in A World Apart (2018), Richard II (1997), Eyimofe (2020) and Bad Girls (2005). .
Akuwudike was born and raised in Nigeria, West Africa. Hence, Jude finished his early education and studies in Nigeria. He then moved to the UK to continue his studies at the Wesrtate-on-Sea boarding school in 1985. Jude eventually joined the Royal Academy of Art where he graduated in 1987.
Akuwudike made his acting debut playing the role of Captain Watkin in 1988 in a stage production titled Our Country’s Good held at the Royal Court Theatre. He then made his film debut in a film called A World Apart in the same year. In 1989, Jude landed his first leading role in a Booth Theater production of Murray Watts’ The Fatherland.
He then made his screen debut playing Seargent Gummer in a serial drama called Virtual Murder in 1991. Jude got his lead screen role in a 2005 film called A Likeness in Stone. His other notable roles are in TV shows and films such as Screenplay (1990), Roger Roger (1996), Heat of the Sun (1998) and Bad Girls (2005).
