Isiah Thomas is an American former professional basketball player and coach who currently works as a commentator for NBA TV. He has been a member of the network since its inception on December 19, 2012.
Additionally, he is a regular NBA contributor on TNT’s Players Only Monday coverage. Former NBA players are the only ones hosting the show. He was a member of the Detroit Pistons from 1981 to 1994 before becoming the basketball coach.

Isiah overdosed on the sedative Lunesta on October 24, 2008 and was taken to White Plains Hospital Center by ambulance. After making a full recovery, he spoke to ESPN and revealed that keeping a low profile during his hospital stay was for the benefit of his family.
He began his professional basketball career in 1981 after the Detroit Pistons selected him with the second overall pick. He accepted a four-year, $1.6 million contract. Isiah faced Bernard King and the New York Knicks in the 1984 NBA playoffs. He fouled out and the New York Knicks won.
The Pistons faced the 15-time NBA champion Boston Celtics in the 1985 NBA playoffs. Isiah and his team finally suffered a loss after a thrilling game. The Pistons and Celtics met again in the 1987 NBA playoffs, but this time the series ended in a tie after two rounds. However, Larry Bird dashed their hopes. After 32 years, they finally reached the championship game when they faced the Celtics the following year and triumphed.
The Los Angeles Lakers, coached by Magic Johnson, James Worthy and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, met the Detroit Pistons in the 1988 championship game. Isiah and Johnson shared courtside glances before the games began as a symbol of their close friendship.
The Pistons appeared committed to winning their first NBA championship after taking a 3-2 series lead back in Los Angeles. Isiah injured his ankle, however, despite the pain, he continued to play. Isiah set a new NBA Finals record with 25 points in the third quarter while playing through injury. The Lakers were champions.
