He played for the Kings, Charlotte Hornets, Indiana Pacers, Houston Rockets, Phoenix Suns, Seattle SuperSonics and the Greek team Olympiakos in 1994 and 1995 before retiring from the game in 1999. Eddie was also never selected to play in the All-Star game or being selected to an All-NBA team, even though, at the time of his retirement, his 19,202 points in 1,199 NBA games were the 22nd highest total in NBA history.
However, Eddie’s “highlight of awards” in his career came in 1989 when he was a member of the Suns and received the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award. His career point total of 19,202 is also higher than all but 30 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame honorees.
Eddie returned to broadcasting after his playing career ended, working as a color commentator for Arizona State, the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury and now the Phoenix Suns.
