Dan Skoff is an Emmy Award Winning Chief Meteorologist currently serving as Chief Meteorologist at KNWA, FOX 24 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, United States of America. You can see him on Fox 24 at 9 p.m. weeknights at 5, 6 and 10 p.m., and on Fox 24 at 5 p.m. the weekends.
As a child, Skoff had an interest in the weather. Everyone in his family would flee to the basement as a storm approached, but he would look out a top-floor window or climb onto the roof for a better view.
Dan became his chief meteorologist KNWA in June 2006. He is a member of it American Meteorological Society and National Meteorological Association. He is also the proud owner of it AMS TV Seal of Approval. Skoff received his CBM (Certified Broadcast Meteorologist) and AMS certifications. You must pass a tough 100-question exam administered by the American Meteorological Society to reach this rating.
Skoff was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but feels right at home here in Northwest Arkansas. When a tornado came within a quarter mile of his home when he was eight years old, he decided he wanted to be a meteorologist.
“I’ll never forget how dark the horizon was before the storm. it was almost strange.” There was a great bright beautiful rainbow right after the storm, and you could hear the birds chirping in the trees. We walked around our area a bit and saw the complete devastation in front of us. “From that point on, I was hooked,” Skoff added.
Dan decided to learn and experience all that Mother Nature has to offer from one of the best meteorology schools in the nation, so he went to University of Oklahoma and earned his Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. Let’s be fair: Arkansas doesn’t have a weather program.
Dan began his career at the television station 1998 with the CBS affiliate KWTV/Oklahoma City, where he worked as a professional media storm tracker for three years, alerting the public to severe weather threats. Then he went to Yellowwhere he spent nearly three years as a weekend weatherman for NBC and FOX stations KMR/KCIT. Skoff spent nearly three years as the weekend weatherman NECK (a sister station of KNWA) in Little Rock.

Skoff and his family love living in the beautiful state of Arkansas. He has experienced all the different types of weather the Natural State has to offer during his time as a meteorologist. The largest tornado outbreak in Arkansas history on January 21, 1999, which overshadowed the devastating Hurricane Katrina as it made landfall just north of New Orleans, and the winter storm that gave most of Arkansas a white Christmas in 2004 are among the most notable meteorological facts worked on.
Additionally, Skoff will use his extensive experience and up-to-date understanding of extreme weather to keep you and your family safe during the storm. Storm chasing and capturing a spectacular weather film is one of Dan’s favorite things to do. Skoff has weathered more than 90 tornadoes since his first chase in 1996, including the devastating storms that hit Oklahoma City in 1999.
Dan enjoys spending time with his wife and two children (Callie and Cade) in his spare time. He also enjoys playing and watching almost all sports, especially when the Sooners and Hogs are in action.
