Catherine Mayer is a renowned American author and journalist, as well as co-founder and Chair of the Women's Equality (WE) Party in the UK. Mayer began her career at The Economist and has worked as a foreign correspondent for the German weekly magazine Focus.
From June 2013 to June 2005, Mayer was president of the Foreign Press Association in London. In addition, she served as Time's Editor at Large, Europe Editor, London Bureau Chief and Senior Editor from 2004 to April 2015. She launched a legal action against Time in July 2017 based on age and gender discrimination. Her lawyer, Dr Ann Olivarius, is a founding member of the Women's Equality Party, which was co-founded by Catherine Meyer. Mayer and Dr. Ann appeared on a 2018 episode of the Thomson Reuters Legal UK & Ireland podcast series, “The Hearing”. Catherine's lawsuit prompted other journalists to seek legal advice on sex discrimination and ended in 2018, with an “amicable decision”.
Additionally, in 2011, Mayer wrote the book, Amorality: The Pleasures and Rils of Living Agelessly about the pros and cons of people living longer. Additionally, her 2015 biography of Prince Charles, published as Charles: The Heart of a King, published in the US as Born to Be King, made global headlines with its allegations of dysfunction in the royal courts. Clarence House, which helped access the Prince, was removed from the book. However, Mayer stuck to the content. The book was among the top ten Sunday Times bestsellers.

Mayer co-founded the Women's Equality Party with Sandi Toksvig in March 2015 and is also its President.
