Mark began his coaching career at UConn as the director of students from 2003 to 2007 under Jim Calhoun. After earning his bachelor’s degree in education, he initially intended to go to graduate school, but was encouraged at Holy Cross by Calhoun and associate coach George Blaney to pursue an assistant coaching role and offered strong recommendations.

From 2010 to 2014, Mark was the head coach of the Oklahoma City Blue of the NBA G League and was an assistant coach of the Florida Gators, affiliate of the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder, from 2014 to 2019.

During the 2019–20 NBA season, he joined the Thunder as an assistant, reuniting him with coach Billy Donovan, the head coach of the Gators, while Mark served as an assistant. The Thunder promoted him to head coach on November 11, 2020.
