Biography of Steve Raible
Steve Rable is an American Radio host and is widely recognized as a radio commentator for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League. Prior to his work with the Seahawks, Raible worked for several years for KIRO 7 News based in Seattle, Washington. He also played professional football from 1976 to 1981. Steve even spent about five years working as a sports commentator for KIRO Radio 7.3 Fm and KIRO Am ESPN Seattle and Kiro Radio 7.3 FM.
Rable was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky to a middle-class Native American family. He grew up involved in various sports activities such as soccer and football from a young age. He attended Trinity High School where he graduated in 1972. Steve then enrolled at Georgia Tech University and played college football throughout his college years. He started playing tight end and wide receiver under coach Pepper Rodgers until his graduation.
Steve was then drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the 1976 NFL Draft. He was able to play wide receiver for the team for six consecutive seasons before suffering a life-threatening injury on the field. Steve’s lungs collapsed in the second preseason game in mid-August. He didn’t play again until 1980 during the sixth game of the regular season.
Ultimately, he retired from football in 1981 due to a drop on the depth chart caused by a pass rush. Raible was then able to begin his radio career in 1982 appearing as the color analyst for the Seahawks radio broadcasts on KIRO. He then appeared on Seattle’s KIRO ESPN until 1993. Raidble left Kiro and became a news anchor on KIRO TV from 1993 to 2020.
