Stitz is a meteorologist for Omaha, Nebraska’s KMTV 3 News. In December 2017, he returned to the Midwest and joined the 3 News Now Weather Alert Team. There it enjoys mild summers and snowy winters. After many cold and snowy Ohio winters, Mark set out to build his television career in San Angelo, Texas. He spent more than four years in Texas honing his forecasting skills, specializing in intense heat and severe thunderstorms caused by the infamous “dry line,” a feature of the southern plains that separates moist air from arid desert air.
He earned the prestigious American Meteorological Society (AMS) Certified Broadcast Meteorologist accreditation during his time in Texas. This award is presented by the American Meteorological Society (AMS) to recognize broadcast meteorologists who meet rigorous requirements and demonstrate both scientific competence and strong communication skills in their weather forecasts. Next, Mark traveled to Lexington, Kentucky, which is known for its bourbon production and thoroughbred horse farms. At this location, he spent over two years forecasting local weather such as spring storms and winter snowfall.
