Billy Gardell Biography
Billy Gardell is an American actor and stand-up comedian who rose to fame playing the role of Chicago police officer Mike Biggs on Mike & Molly. He gained even more fame playing the recurring role of Billy Colivida on Yes, Dear. Gardell then voiced a character named Santa in a popular movie called Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas (2011). He then gained more fame in 2019 after playing the lead role in the CBS sitcom Bob Hearts Absihola.
Gardell was born in the suburbs of Swissvae, Pennsylvania but grew up in Orange County, Florida. Billy then attended and graduated from Florida-based Winter Park High School. He also grew up as the older sibling taking care of his younger siblings when they moved to Florida after their parents divorced.
Gardell also worked in a department store warehouse in the reception area where he continued to work even after graduating from high school. He was a member of the International Thespian Society Troupe 850 and Ben Rock of The Blair Witch Project.
Billy began his acting career by moving to Los Angeles and playing comedy roles influenced by Jackie Gleason. He then played major roles in Bad Santa, You, Me & Dupree and Bad Santa before appearing in Mike & Molly. Gardell has also had numerous roles on television shows such as NBC’s Heist, The Practice, Desperate Housewives, Lucky Bones, My Name is Eral and The King of Queens. Billy’s lead roles are in Special Unit (2017) and Bob Hearts Abishola (since 2019). His other recent roles are in Girl Meets World, Sun Records (2017) and Dice (2017).
