She is the India's first Indian Air Force pilot to fly solo fighter plane. She is one of three air officers alongside Mrs. Bhawana Kanth and Ms. Mohana Singh, who were inducted into the Indian Air Fighter Squadron in June 2016.

Born into a family of army officers, she aspired to become a member of the Indian Air Force (IAF) since childhood.
While pursuing her B.Tech program, she completed a 6-month internship as an associate software engineer at Ranosys Technologies Pvt. Ltd.
After graduating, she worked as a software engineer at IBM for over 3 years.
She was inspired by army officers in her family and a brief flying experience of a few hours in the college flying club prompted her to join the IAF.
Avani completed his training at the Hyderabad Air Force Academy.
"I was selected to fly in continuous flow and then to fly a fighter plane.
