Anne Hathaway says ‘One Day’ n-de scenes were easy
Anne Hathaway says getting laid on screen is easier than mastering a British accent.
The American actress plays Yorkshire girl Emma in her new film ‘One Day’, but the 28-year-old star insists she was more comfortable stripping down for a skinny dipping scene with her co -star Jim Sturgess than speaking in his character’s regional dialect.
Anne – who took her clothes off for roles in ‘Havoc’, ‘Brokeback Mountain’ and ‘Love And Other Drugs’ – said: “I was more nervous about the accent than the n-dity.
“I mean, you can do sit-ups as prep for n-dity. But there’s not a lot of vocal sit-ups you can do. Maybe it’s because I have more of experience in my life being n-ked than pretending to be British.
“So I quickly became familiar with the n-dit only with the accent.”
Despite her struggles, the actress – who was born in New York and raised most of her childhood in New Jersey – worked hard to master the accent, but was disappointed she never dreamed with her voice. British.
Anne – who read the book ‘Watching the English: the Hidden Rules of English Behaviour’ to hold her accent – told The Sun newspaper: “I stayed in the accent and used British-isms I was a bit disappointed because I was hoping I would start dreaming with the accent.
“This morning I was waking up and I had the accent. But that never happened. But once I was in, the American accent became ‘the other’. It was hard to mix the two up, so I ended up staying in all the time. On closing night, people freaked out when I started talking like me.
