Early Life & Education
Rahul Kohli was born on November 13, 1985, in London, the son of Indian immigrants. His mother was raised in Thailand and his father in Kenya, and two of his grandparents were born in areas of British India that later became part of Pakistan â a family map that Kohli has joked makes him “international by accident.”
He attended Northolt High School and then Uxbridge College, where he studied media. In 2006 he trained with the Questors Theatre company, one of the largest amateur theatre groups in the UK, which gave him his first proper grounding in performance.
Career Journey
Early Roles and iZombie
Kohli made his acting debut in March 2007 in the short film The Vacancy, and spent several years in British television before landing the role that changed everything: Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti, the excitable medical examiner on The CW’s iZombie. He appeared in all 71 episodes from 2015 to 2019, opposite Rose McIver, and became the show’s comic engine.
The Mike Flanagan Era
In 2020 Kohli starred as Owen Sharma in The Haunting of Bly Manor, the second entry in Mike Flanagan’s Netflix horror anthology. He followed it with Midnight Mass (2021) as Sheriff Hassan Shabazz, The Midnight Club (2022) and The Fall of the House of Usher (2023), where he played Napoleon “Leo” Usher. His films include the 2018 Netflix comedy Happy Anniversary and the 2022 indie Next Exit, and he has voiced characters in Harley Quinn and Disney Junior’s The Rocketeer.
Saros and Carrie in 2026
Kohli’s 2026 began with Saros, the PlayStation 5 game from Returnal developer Housemarque, released on April 30, 2026. He plays Arjun Devraj, the protagonist, in what he has called a dream role. Variety reported that some of Arjun’s dialogue had to be re-recorded during production, and critics singled out his performance as one of the game’s strongest elements.
On October 7, 2026, Amazon Prime Video premiered Carrie, Mike Flanagan’s eight-episode reimagining of the Stephen King novel. Kohli plays Seth Peist, Carrie White’s English teacher. The series drew largely positive reviews, with critics praising Flanagan’s modern take and the lead performances.
Defending His Co-Stars
On October 16, 2026, Kohli publicly called out toxic fans targeting his Carrie co-stars, telling followers that “happy people don’t behave like this.” His comments were widely covered, including by BuzzFeed, and framed the harassment as a failure of the people sending it rather than of the actors receiving it.

Controversies
Kohli’s public friction has mostly been with unruly fandoms. In 2026 he criticized fans harassing his Carrie co-stars.
